The Warden

Time trickled past the Warden, her careful eye watching for any disturbance, alert and ready to spring into action should she be needed. In the Flow, hours whipped past. Decades. Eons. Still, she waited for the moment, that imperceptible sliver of displaced time which threatened to corrupt, sending the linear progression of time into a discordant maelstrom of has beens, could bes, and never weres. Civilizations grew and fell. Stars burst into life and faded out. Galaxies twirled around each other in a cosmic dance. Still, She waited.
